Become an intern in the Education through Research Project at Long Island's oldest public observatory (est. 1927), the Custer Institute in Southold, NY (www.CusterObservatory.org). College and high-school students interested in astronomy are needed to search for novae and exoplanets. Will image star fields and galaxies, acquire and process data, generate photometric light curves and determine magnitudes. Experience with SBIG cameras, Maxim DL and other imaging software helpful. Familiarity with the Celestron Telescope system preferred. However, we will train motivated students. Contact Steve Orlando, Internship Program Coordinator, sorlando@sorlando.com or 631-266-1706.
